Heather DeLapp

Heather’s path to Fairhope began long before she called it home. Originally from Chatom, Alabama, she spent her childhood in Florida and Louisiana before her family returned to Alabama when she was twelve. After earning a degree in Telecommunications and Film from the University of Alabama, she began a career in broadcast journalism, working as a producer, reporter, and anchor in markets across the state from Huntsville to Birmingham and eventually Tuscaloosa.

Her career later expanded into the restaurant and hospitality world, where she co-owned and operated two restaurants, including Café Venice in Tuscaloosa. The restaurant occupied the historical Woolworth’s Department Store building on the main floor. She later developed the upstairs as a residence. The work on that space was featured twice on HGTV and sparked her love of architecture, design, and renovation. Heather also helped launch a fast-casual restaurant concept in Mobile. Those experiences, paired with her background in journalism and business, naturally evolved into a thriving real-estate career.

Heather first visited Fairhope in the spring of 2002 while expecting her first child. She remembers exploring the Arts and Crafts Festival, staying at The Grand Hotel, and falling in love with the town’s charm and character. She made the move full-time in 2008 and poured her energy into renovating a 100-year-old cottage in downtown Fairhope, just off South Bayview. Her daughter could walk to the K-1 Center, and that season deepened Heather’s love for Fairhope’s history and sense of community.

Today, Heather and her husband, Jim DeLapp, share a blended family of six. With only one son still at home, a senior at Fairhope High, they are building their dream home, creating a lasting home base for their family to gather for years to come. Their children share the same hometown pride, often bringing friends back to experience the small-town traditions that make Fairhope so special.

In real estate, Heather combines her business background, marketing experience, and investigative mindset to help clients make confident and informed decisions. She approaches every transaction with curiosity and care, always guided by the belief that people come before profits. Heather values honesty, advocacy, and clear communication, and she takes pride in helping clients feel understood and supported. Her philosophy centers on integrity, genuine relationships, and putting people first in every aspect of her work.

Outside of work, Heather enjoys everything that makes Fairhope magical—the sunsets over the Bay, the jubilees, the monarch migrations, and especially the people who give this town its heart. For her, Fairhope isn’t simply where she lives- it is home, and sharing its one-of-a-kind beauty and spirit with others is one of her greatest joys.
