If you know Brooke Butler at all, some words that immediately come to mind are Deep. Thoughtful. Sincere. Loyal. Perseverant. Brooke’s story and the core values that have brought her to where she is today are worthy of closer attention, and here at Mobile Bay Realty, we are honored to highlight this remarkable woman’s life. Brooke is a 4th-generation Fairhopian and she would be the first to tell you she would not want to live anywhere else! Other than a short 8-month span living in Auburn, Brooke and her husband, Steve, have always called Baldwin County home, and it’s here where they’ve raised their two lovely daughters, now a sophomore and senior in high school.
Hospitality plays a huge role in Brooke’s life, and at the Butler home, it’s a more-the-merrier philosophy! Whether it’s inviting neighbors to pick from her luscious fruit trees, hosting a permanent jewelry party, or welcoming over her Bunco group, Brooke’s doors are always open with a generosity that makes you feel seen and valued. When asked how she would describe her style in interior design, Brooke gave it some thought and then arrived at “traditional with a splash of funky”–which the next home design catalog really ought to add as a formal genre, wouldn’t you say? Think neutral color scheme, and traditional furniture pieces, coupled with the bright accents of a fun rug, eclectic piece of art, or colorful pillows.
How did Brooke come to enter the world of real estate? It was the place that life brought her to, she responded with a yes, and it has changed the trajectory of her life forever. Brooke worked a sales job for about a decade before deciding to stay home to raise her children. When the time came for her to return to work, the economy was in recession and jobs were scarce. Brooke chanced to see a local brokerage post about hiring, and after the interview, she took a step of faith into a commission-based career that was far out of her comfort zone…and she has never looked back. For Brooke, real estate has never only been about selling houses; it is about relationships. It’s about causing people to feel important and like they are her only client. Brooke attributes much of her attitude towards life and career to her mother and father, both of whom were entrepreneurs and possessed wonderfully giving spirits. In turn, one of Brooke’s top priorities is giving forward to other real estate agents, mentoring agents younger in the field, and seeing the lives of them, and their families changed forever, just as her own was.
While real estate has become a rhythm of life for Brooke, in her leisure time, the thing she enjoys the most is spending time with her husband, daughters, and all the Thomas / Butler crews on the boat or in the river. Along with that, she is a most avid reader and is in a book club. Every month, the group reads one or two books, selected each time by a different member. Brooke notes that the best thing about it is that you never know what someone else will pick, so you end up reading something you might never have opted for, and find out you love it! Brooke believes in the importance of adventure and the courage to step out towards your dreams and goals. Her own life is a testament to these beliefs, and after spending some time with her, you are certain to feel the same spark for your own life!
