Trust us on this one – Jessica Sturgis is a woman you want to meet! She is a dynamic individual with many talents as well as persistent courage characterizing everything she does. Jessica’s career in real estate has brought her full circle back to the place of her upbringing. She grew up in Foley, AL, a graduate of Foley High School and Faulkner Community College. Her father was a builder, her mother a real estate agent, and her stepfather owned a real estate office in Gulf Shores. So throughout her early years, real estate was in the back of her mind, even if she didn’t realize it. When she found herself encouraging friends with all the reasons they would excel in real estate, Jessica realized she was drawn to it for herself. When Jessica married her husband, Joe, his Coast Guard assignment took them to Alaska and then later to Oregon, so that is where her real estate career first took flight!
It was the perfect adventure. Married for less than a year, Jessica and Joe turned their move to Alaska into a month-long road trip. They spliced together different itineraries and mapped their way through Arkansas, Missouri, and South Dakota, exploring the Badlands and Yellowstone, Glacier Park and the Alcan. Alaska was home to the Sturgis family for three years, followed by three years in Oregon. It was in that small-town Oregon community, surrounded with meaningful connections with other Coast Guard families, that Jessica dove into real estate. She recalls how it was a much simpler lifestyle, a great place to get your bearings and figure out who you are. If there’s one thing she can say after working in opposite ends of the country, it’s that despite thousands of miles of distance, the needs of buyers and sellers are consistent across the lines, and that is one of the reasons she loves it.
For Jessica, being a real estate agent means many important things. For one thing, it means working full-time alongside her husband as a team within the brokerage: Team Sturgis! It also means the built-in opportunity to develop lasting relationships and be actively involved in the community: as Jessica puts it, personal real estate growth mirrors growth within her community. Even more than this, Jessica feels that being a real estate agent and a relevant member of society gives her the chance to be someone her kids can be proud of, which is much more important than money and retirement.
These days, the Sturgis family lives an active life with their 3 children in Daphne, AL, running in all different directions between band practice, cheerleading, and soccer! This is forever home for them, back to their own family roots and exactly where they wanted to raise their family. One of Jessica’s (hidden?) talents is her knack for theater! She got started in community theater in Alaska, and has acted in two of Theater 98’s murder mysteries here in Fairhope and a musical at Joe Jefferson Playhouse in Mobile. If things work out, she hopes to be back on stage again in 2025! Jessica is a gift to all who know her, and we are blessed to have her onboard at Mobile Bay Realty
