Malcolm Young – Agent Spotlight Bio

Malcolm Young’s journey to Fairhope was years in the making, and in many ways, it feels like it was always meant to be. After vacationing at the Grand Hotel for more than two decades, Malcolm and his wife knew this charming coastal town held a special place in their hearts. Eleven years ago, when the time came to choose where life would take them next, the decision was simple: Fairhope. Today, with one child preparing to move from New Orleans to Mobile and another settling in a town with a similar Fairhope feel, it’s clear that Malcolm’s instinct about where “home” should be was right all along.

Before stepping into real estate sales, Malcolm built an impressive career supporting the real estate industry itself. For 37 years, he worked with real estate associations, including 27 years with Louisiana Realtors, where he played a key role in creating standardized forms for the entire state. He helped shape fair housing initiatives, served on advisory committees, and led efforts to expand professional education for real estate administrators. Malcolm also worked closely with HUD and the National Association of Realtors to help rebuild New Orleans following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita—efforts that earned him recognition from two U.S. presidents. Throughout his career, Malcolm has received many gifts of knowledge, opportunity, and mentorship. Today, he views his work in real estate as a way to give those gifts back by serving buyers and sellers with integrity.

Outside of real estate, Malcolm’s hobbies are as dynamic as his professional story. An amateur chef trained by some of the world’s most celebrated culinary talents, including Julia Child and Wolfgang Puck, he once owned a thriving salsa company in Baton Rouge. Today, he continues to nurture that creative side by working part-time with a catering company. While Malcolm has traveled extensively for work and still dreams of visiting France and returning to favorite places like Santa Fe, NM, these days his greatest joy is closer to home. With four grandchildren under the age of six, life in Fairhope revolves around family.

In real estate, Malcolm says his favorite part of the job is simple: making people happy. He believes the key to success is balancing professionalism with genuine passion—approaching every transaction with integrity, staying committed to lifelong learning, and always bringing his love for what he does to the table.
