Meet Shannon Baldwin, a force to be reckoned with! For as far back as she can remember, Shannon has been aiming high and looking for challenges to take on, just to prove that she could. One of these challenges was climbing a mountain…literally. In her twenties, Shannon hiked the Grand Canyon, taking an intermediate trail down the mountain, camping out for two nights at the bottom, then opting for the amateur trail for the return hike up–WHEW! She laughs when she remembers that mules have the right of way. It’s conquering challenges like this that have made Shannon who she is today. Whether defeating breast cancer or running a full marathon, Shannon allows nothing to stop her. After you’ve talked with her for any amount of time…you notice the feeling start to rub off on you, too.
Shannon’s career has revolved around sales for her entire life. She graduated from Auburn University with both her Bachelor’s and MBA in Marketing, and hit the ground running in technology sales positions with Integrated Computer Solutions and later, Lucent Technologies. Meanwhile, multiple members of her family were experiencing successful real estate careers in her hometown of Mobile. With four children and a desire for more flexibility and fewer business trips, Shannon knew it was time for a change. She moved back to Fairhope, the town she’d always loved, and quickly obtained her real estate license. Knowing that her children were growing up surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins has been one of the best decisions Shannon would tell you she’s ever made. And as far as her real estate career goes…Shannon attributes her ease in the business to her years at college. “Graduate school helps you learn how to manage yourself and work with others,” Shannon says, and she recognizes how all her years of studying creative marketing equipped her to think outside the box.
Ten years ago, Shannon’s world turned upside down when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Today, while she acknowledges that nobody wants to experience a crisis like that, Shannon sees it as one of the best things that could have happened to her. In a way, it turned everything right-side up, giving her a new perspective on the things in life that truly matter. The Shannon you see today is different from the Shannon of ten years ago: she doesn’t worry about little things that don’t matter, and the big things she faces head-on. Her driving force is supporting her children who are now all in high school and college. Shannon also serves on the Board of Directors of Anchor Cross Cancer Foundation as well as on the foundation’s annual Masquerade Ball committee. Anchor Cross provides financial assistance to members of the local community battling cancer. In this way, Shannon offers hope to others that they will come out on the other side just as she did. She is nothing short of a powerhouse and she makes our lives better at Mobile Bay Realty!
